Philosopher reimagined

This was work from a few months back but was a stepping point in my career as a freelance illustrator. The client wanted a portrait commissioned of Hypathia, an Hellenistic Neoplatonist philosopher, astronomer, and mathematician, who lived in Alexandria, Egypt. He had a reference image which he wanted it loosely based on but also to reimagine her. The key features sought after were to "show a thoughtful and graceful individual".

I was very proud of this work, firstly the client loved it, which felt amazing! but also It was the first commission I put my nerves aside and quoted what I felt was the right amount for the work needed to make it. I was fortunate that the client agreed and had the upmost professionalism throughout the process. I cant say providing quotes on work has gotten easier but I can now say it with a bit more confidence.
